Vantastic future with the Purfleet Trust

The Purfleet Trust, a homeless charity based in King’s Lynn has officially launched its new van which will be used for collecting furniture donations for people moving into independent accommodation for the first time.

With support from local businesses, including Hayes + Storr, the new van will help The Purfleet Trust keep up with new demands on the service by helping to collect and deliver furniture more efficiently as part of the Purfleet Pathways project.

Hayes + Storr have a history of supporting the Purfleet Trust and we are honoured to be featured on the new van which will be used to move furniture for people who are moving into their first property after experiencing a period of homelessness. Hayes + Storr’s Laura Leventhall was there to celebrate the launch alongside representatives of other local businesses.

The trust’s Partnership and Development Manager, Joy Wylie said: “We would not have been able to purchase the van and cover running costs without all the very generous businesses who sponsored it. It’s great to have all their logos on the van as it shows how committed people in our local community are to ending homelessness and furniture poverty in West Norfolk.”

Joy added: “It is a wonderful time for people when they find a home but can also be daunting as there are a lot of things to consider.

“With the current cost of living crisis it can be quite an anxious time thinking about how to turn a house in to a home. This is where our project comes in and supports people to take those first steps and make sure they have the basics needed to feel comfortable in their home. The van means we are able to complete more moves and take on more referrals both internally and from other agencies.”

The trust is currently booking in more upcycling workshops and is always on the lookout for anyone with skills in this area who might like to volunteer a few hours a month or more.
